DeMOTTE, John Brewer - M. D.
Rev. J.E. (sic - B.) DeMotte died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. T. Potts, last Saturday in Chicago aged 84 years. He was buried at Greencastle Monday afternoon. He leaves several children - Mrs . MT Case, of this city; Mrs. WT Potts of Chicago; Mrs. Jas. VanSchaick, of Garden City Kans; LE DeMotte of Indianapolis; George E. DeMotte of Hendrick, Ind; and Prof. John B. DeMotte of Greencastle. Three brothers survive -- Mark L. DeMotte of Valparaiso; W.H. and Jas DeMotte of Indianapolis. There is also one sister, Mrs. Jane Marshall of Indianapolis. John B. DeMotte was one of the best known ministers of the ME Church in Indiana. He graduated from Asbury or DePauw as it now is in the early 40s, going to Greencastle from Rockville where he then lived. Mrs. J..M. Ray of this city who also lived in Rockville at that time recalls attending a farewell party given him and James Sunderland the night before they left for Greencastle.
